Headache due to wrong prescription glasses
The purchase of new glasses is usually accompanied by new glasses in a modified prescription. Are your old glasses usable?
No, an adult will not damage their eyes by wearing glasses or contact lenses of the old prescription. Even if you wear glasses that are not optimal in terms of strength for a long time, your eyes will not be damaged. However, it can give you a headache, because your eyes have to work much harder. Other possible consequences of incorrect prescription glasses or contact lenses include blurred vision, neck pain, dizziness, double vision and burning eyes. One suffers more from these kinds of symptoms than the other. However, you don’t have to worry that your eyes will lose something.
Children are at risk
For children it is a different story. Children’s eyes are still developing. If a child wears glasses with the wrong prescription for too long – or no glasses when they should – this can lead to, for example, a lazy eye. It is therefore important to have a child’s eyes checked regularly. Children under the age of ten must see an ophthalmologist, optometrist or orthoptist for this.
