I think it’s bad for our 7 and 3 year olds to sit in a sink tub. You may be familiar with them: the zinc bowls and trays that you also find as decoration in the garden. Does zinc have a negative influence on the skin or other organs?

Dick van Gerwen, dermatologist:
As a dermatologist, I see no objection to bathing your child in a zinc tub. Before the shower era in the 1960s, everyone took a bath in a zinc tub, and it never caused any skin or other problems.
Zinc is not bad for the skin at all. Baby bottom ointment contains a lot of zinc (oxide) to prevent irritation and to protect against urine and feces.
