You had planned to take your 3rd dose of the Covid-19 vaccine this week. Yes, but now, one of your relatives has tested “positive” for Covid-19 and you are in contact… The question arises: can you keep your appointment and receive your booster dose, or should you he postpone the vaccination?
The answer of Ministry of Health is very clear:if you are a contact case or have been alerted to a contact at risk by the TousAntiCovid application, you must wait before getting vaccinated“.
I am a contact case: how long should I wait to take my 3rd dose? First, make sure you have not caught Covid-19 yourself using a PCR or antigen test carried out 7 days after your last contact with the infected person. If this test is negative, you can receive your 3rd dose of vaccine.
After catching Covid-19, the booster dose is still necessary
Warning ! As specified by the Ministry of Health, “if you live with the sick person [comprendre : c’est votre conjoint, votre enfant…], your control test is to be done 17 days after the positive test or the start of symptoms for this person“. Again, if the PCR or antigen test comes back negative, you can receive your booster dose.
I caught Covid-19, can I (and should I) receive my 3rd dose of vaccine? Yes, the booster dose is still necessary! If you have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus after your first 2 doses of vaccine, the third dose is possible from 3 months (and up to 6 months and 4 weeks) after the supposed date of infection .
An example to better understand: if, after having been in contact with one of your relatives, you discover that you have caught Covid-19 via a positive PCR test at the beginning of January 2022, you can take your 3rd dose of vaccine against -Covid-19 from the beginning of April 2022 and until July-August 2022.
