Keep refrigerated or freeze
Do you often buy fresh garlic and a large part of it ends up in the trash because it has gone bad again? Here’s what you need to know about storing fresh garlic. Useful!
1. Keep cool
If you buy garlic, make sure the bulbs are firm and have no yellow spots. If the garlic feels soft, it is too ripe and can no longer be stored. Never put garlic in the refrigerator, but keep it at room temperature. Garlic goes bad quickly in the fridge. If there is also moisture in the garlic, it can quickly start to mold.
Keep it cool and dark at a temperature around 16 degrees. In addition, ensure adequate ventilation. So put them in a basket or in a container with holes so that there can be enough air. This will keep the garlic good for longer.
A garlic bulb can stay good for about eight weeks. Broken toes stay good for about three to ten days.
2. Freezing
Have a few garlic cloves left? You can also freeze unpeeled toes. Preferably put them in a freezer bag or aluminum foil. It can be stored in the freezer for one to three months. You don’t have to thaw it. You can grate it frozen.
