These ugly little insects are often found in country homes: bedbugs. As big as apple seeds, these pests could totally disappear from our environment thanks to two colors: yellow and green.
Prefer green and yellow sheets
Do you know about bed bugs? Small insects that feed mainly on human blood. These critters, whose bite itches excruciatingly, could well disappear forever from our homes thanks to a very simple method. According to an American study, published in the journal Journal of Medical Entomology, these parasites would indeed be attracted to red and black, but would not like yellow and green.
Results : to not have it in your bed, you just need to change the color of your sheets. To reach such conclusions, researchers at the University of Florida and Union College in the United States placed bedbugs, male and female, hungry or sated, old and young, in cardboard shelters. in different colors. And watched them.
Black reassures them, red attracts them
This is how they were able to see that red was appreciated for its resemblance to blood, which colors the skin of their fellows when they have eaten well, and black because it makes them feel secure. These critters like to live in hiding in little nooks and crannies, in a mattress or between cracks in the floor. In very dark places. On the other hand, they hate green and yellow, which reminds them of sunny places where they are not safe.
The goal of researchers is, above all, to develop effective traps against these pests which can, in a single night, bite us more than 90 times. Currently, the best natural repellant remains vaporization of essential oils. These oils will also be very effective in relieving stings on the body.
