I wake up after five or six hours of sleep and never fall back asleep. Sometimes I lie down for a while during the day, but I’m afraid this makes the problem worse. Or is that okay? How do I deal with this? I am a 63 year old woman.

Most importantly, don’t worry about it. You can go to bed later and enjoy the time you have in the evening, or do something fun or useful in the morning if you are more of a morning person. As you get older, you often sleep less. If you are tired during the day, an afternoon nap is fine. Limit it to no more than an hour, otherwise it will be more difficult to fall asleep at night.
