Massage with hot stones
A hot stone massage is a massage of the body with stones of approximately 45 degrees Celsius. Hence the name hot stone. The heat and the ‘pressure’ of the stones penetrate deep into the muscles. The hot stone massage relieves tension and gives you a lot of energy afterwards.
Only rounded basalt stones are used for the massage. Basalt is a hard and ferruginous volcanic rock with a high density. This allows the stones to retain heat well.
Warmth and relaxation
The stones are dipped in a warm water bath and placed on the focus areas of the body first – usually your back. This gives a pleasant warmth and relaxation. The stones give a certain pressure, which you can compare with a stretching exercise. You will notice this best when you remove the stone.
After the hot stones have been placed on the body, you will be further massaged with the warm stones and warm oil. Hot stone massage provides deep relaxation and detoxification.
The massage mainly consists of long calm and circular strokes. Special effects differ per masseur. He can, for example, spin the stone or drum on it. Due to the combination of heat and movement, the massage works deeper into the muscle tissue. This is extra effective.
A hot stone massage contributes to the self-recovery of the body, removes waste products, stimulates the organs and brings the body more in balance.
