Marisol Touraine unveiled a 250 million plan to fight the shortage of doctors at the hospital. Future practitioners say they are satisfied.
To end the vocations crisis at the public hospital, Marisol Touraine presented on Monday a plan to promote medical attractiveness in hospitals, the cost of which is estimated for establishments at 250 million euros. This ambitious program can be summed up in 12 commitments to encourage the youngest in particular to embrace this career.
The Minister thus announced the creation of a commitment bonus to encourage 3,000 practitioners to practice, by 2018, in hospitals that lack medical professionals. “This bonus will be significant and attractive,” she promised in a speech.
These young people will also benefit from a career acceleration. “After five years of practice, these same young practitioners will benefit from a two-year career bonus. Result, after 5 years, they will have 7 years of seniority, ”continued the tenant of avenue Duquesne. Proposals that visibly satisfied future doctors.
Young doctors welcome each other
“These expected measures are in line with the demands expressed by our generation during the preliminary interviews for the development of this action plan. We express our satisfaction to see them almost entirely taken over by the Minister of Health ”, reacted, in a joint press release, the unions of Anemf medical students, Isni and Isnar-IMG interns, and ISNCCA clinic managers.
The only downside is that future doctors have noted that none of the proposed measures has yet been quantified. They will therefore be vigilant “as regards the respect of the commitments announced by the Minister during the negotiation period which will begin”.
Disappointed hospital practitioners
On the side of the unions of hospital practitioners, on the other hand, the disappointment is great. In a press release, the union of anesthetists, SNPHAR-E (1), says it is “strongly disappointed” with the outcome of the mission on the attractiveness of hospital medical careers.
“After months of consultation followed by long months of waiting, it is clear that the 12 proposals, resulting from the report by Jacky Le Menn, retained by the Minister, will not change the daily life of hospital practitioners. As for fighting against “stiff competition” from the private sector, there is still a long way to go, “they regret.
Concretely, they reproach the Minister of Health for not having accepted their proposal that the additional time “be remunerated at the same level as the working time of medical temporary workers”. In addition, they asked that 20% of the attendance time could be devoted to transversal, institutional, research or teaching activities. There again, they received an end of inadmissibility …
