January 24, 2000 – According to a study published in the scientific journal Sleep and Breathing, the homeopathic product SnoreStop is more effective than a placebo in controlling snoring.
The double-blind, placebo-controlled study was carried out in 100 subjects for 10 days. SnoreStop contains the following homeopathic dilutions: Nux Vomica 4X and 6X, Belladonna 6X, Ephedra vulgaris 6X, Hydrastis canadensis 6X, Kali bichromicum 6X, Teucrium marum 6X and Hystaminum hydrochloricum 12 X.
Naturopath Kenneth Rifkin, nd, who released the product in 1995, says SnoreStop firms the soft tissues at the back of the throat so that they vibrate much less when the snorer breathes. The product also acts as an antihistamine and helps enlarge the airways, which creates less turbulence, and therefore less vibration, in the passage of air.
The complex is in the form of a chewable tablet that should be allowed to dissolve in the mouth 5 to 10 minutes before going to bed. It seems that the results can appear on the first night and that five days are enough for the drug to take its full effect.
SnoreStop was introduced to the US market in 1996 and is also available in Canada under the name “SnoreStop / Ne ronflez plus”.
