The Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn wants to establish a zero charge for several medical specialties, including hearing aid professionals. The latter are rather in favor of a controlled remainder, with a two-step application.
It was one of the proposals of the candidate Emmanuel Macron. Today, it is the Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn who is trying to introduce it: the remainder at zero charge for patients for dentistry, hearing aids and opticians. This measure would make it possible to be reimbursed without having to advance the costs.
But among professionals in the hearing aid sector, we prefer for the moment the implementation of a controlled remainder. They spoke in a press release published on the website of the national union of hearing aid professionals.
1000 euros per ear to pay for the patient
It takes on average 1,525 euros for a hearing aid. Social security covers 164 euros, mutual insurance, 350 euros. The rest is the responsibility of the patient. Hearing care professionals are ready to lower the prices.
To do this, they demand not to have to follow the opinion of the Competition Authority formulated in December 2016. It recommended setting two prices, one for hearing aids and one for related services. What Unsaf is opposed to, arguing that for all European countries the two services are reimbursed together.
A costly reform
In its press release, Unsaf calls for a revaluation of reimbursement by social security, and regulation of reimbursement levels by mutuals. They propose their reform plan which, by 2020, would allow all beneficiaries of complementary health assistance (ACS) to be covered, which is already the case for beneficiaries of health coverage. universal.
For the other patients, it would remain to pay on average 250 euros. This reform in two stages, the first by 2020 and the other in 2020, should cost 400 million euros to social security.
