Can do better. The State does not invest enough in prevention in the field of health. This is what more than half of the French people questioned for an Opinionway/Microsoft poll think. 56% of them believe that the actions of the State in terms of prevention are “not effective”.
It is better to prevent than to cure, think 69% of respondents, convinced that prevention is a good lever for reducing health expenditure. This is also valid for Social Security since 68% of respondents believe that prevention in health contributes to reducing the expenditure of Social Security.
Prevention works particularly in the area of aging. Among the useful actions, 92% cite in particular home care and 90% health checks and risk screening.
Responsibility for preventive action lies with “each of us”, for 64% of respondents. But the state also has its role to play, in the opinion of 54% of respondents. Not to mention the medical profession (52%), through the attending physician or the pharmacist.
Internet Trust
Internet has gained credibility with the French if we are to believe the survey. 60% of French people trust the websites or applications of the State, associations or foundations to obtain health prevention advice. This is more than the credit granted to laboratories (50%) or to mutuals (46%).
These results corroborate a TNS Sofres study published last year according to which more and more French people go to health sites to learn about illnesses or treatments.
