A quarter of the women questioned admit not being aware of the possibility of resorting to voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion), either by surgery or by taking a drug.
The study reveals that nearly three quarters of respondents aged 16 to 45 (73%) are on contraceptives, (43% on the pill) and only 14% who use a condom. In addition, the majority of those questioned only use a single method of contraception, highlighting a lack of information on the subject of sexually transmitted diseases.
Faced with this observation, the LMDE and MGEN mutuals call on the public authorities “to guarantee the right to health for women”. They recommend in particular the development of “prevention programs at all stages of life”, and the establishment of regular gynecological monitoring accessible to all women.
According to the two mutuals, this must involve the availability of practitioners without exceeding fees throughout the territory, and the implementation of a free gynecological consultation for French women over the age of 50.
The LMDE and MGEN mutuals also call on the government to ensure that all available contraceptive means are free, to allow women to choose the method that suits them best, and to guarantee the right to abortion in all regions of the country. France.
