The Sentinels network recorded an increase in the number of diarrhea this week. Here are the areas where gastroenteritis is making a comeback.
The regions most affected by gastroenteritis
Gastro is back! Like every year, this disease reappears after the start of the school year. A little early this year since in general, epidemic peaks occur in December and January. the Sentinel network is closely monitoring this disease and has released a map of France.
While some departments are completely spared (Manche, Calvados, Charente-Maritime, Cantal, Drôme, Haute Saônne…), others are already badly affected. Thus, the number of acute diarrhea has reached 300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in some places. Still according to the Sentinelles network, the highest incidence rates were observed in: Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Hauts-de-France and Grand Est.
Gastroenteritis: the hygiene rules to put in place
In order to limit the spread of gastroenteritis, drastic hygiene rules are essential. Hand washing with soap and water, cleaning door handles and toilet bowl with disinfectant or bleach. Bacteria must be eliminated as much as possible.
If you are already sick and have the usual symptoms of gastroenteritis (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ache), dietary rules in addition to the hygiene rules mentioned above apply. First of all make sure to hydrate yourself well (vegetable broth or water), eat rice, mashed carrots, applesauce or quince. If you are not hungry, do not eat, on the other hand, it is absolutely necessary to drink.
