Nine new complaints were lodged with the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bobigny by Maitre Camille Kouchner, for “involuntary harm to physical integrity and aggravated deception”. They relate to the vaccine against cervical cancer, Gardasil marketed by Sanofi Pasteur MSD.
“The complaint does not specifically target the Sanofi Pasteur MSD laboratory, which launched this vaccine against cervical cancer in 2006, because there are many stakeholders and we must seek the responsibility of each,” said to AFP their advice, Maitre Camille Kouchner.
The lawyer also revealed that “these nine women, aged 18 to 24 and living all over France have in common having contracted very disabling diseases in the weeks and months following the vaccination while they had no medical history. Five of them contracted Verneuil’s disease (chronic inflammation of the skin), one lupus (autoimmune disease), another Guillain-Barré disease (an inflammatory autoimmune disease of the nervous system), one suffers from myasthenia gravis (autoimmune neuromuscular disease), and the latter suffers from idiopathic hypersomnia (deep or excessive sleep). “
Gardasil already implicated
At the end of November, a criminal complaint was filed against the Sanofi Pasteur laboratory, which markets Gardasil and against the National Medicines Safety Agency, for “unintentional attack on the integrity of the human person” by a young woman of 18 years. . According to the young woman, the vaccine against cervical cancer, which has already been prescribed to more than 2.3 million young French girls, is responsible for serious side effects on the central nervous system. Maitre Coubris, lawyer for Marie-Océane, this 18-year-old girl who was vaccinated three years ago with Gardasil, believes that the latter developed multiple sclerosis after the vaccination.
It was the first complaint in France against Gardasil.
Sanofi Pasteur MSD, the laboratory that manufactures the vaccine had confirmed the medical conclusion, but recalled that “it is based only on the finding of a temporal coincidence between the onset of symptoms and the disease and vaccination, without proving the causal link. ” The president of the technical committee for vaccinations Daniel Floret had also reacted strongly on the airwaves of RTL. He said that “international data show no link between Gardasil and multiple sclerosis, and that” we pointed out possible perverse effects, after a complaint against this vaccine. “
The National Academy of Medicine calls for caution
Following this first complaint, the National Academy of Medicine recommended for the prevention of this disease not to discredit this vaccine on unjustified claims.
She recalled that “the advantages of vaccinations are measured in terms of benefits for the populations” and that “an objective and quality evaluation should only be done in terms of benefit-risk analysis” and concludes that “like all vaccines, papillomavirus vaccines are in this lineage. They have demonstrated their interest in the prevention of lesions predisposing to cervical cancer. “
