Excel is an excellent spreadsheet program, but unfortunately not free. Alternatives that are, are often tough guys too. If not the tiny Spread32. This little miracle opens (older) Excel files and supports some 300 functions of Microsoft’s math master. You can create spreadsheets in it with up to 256 columns, 65535 rows, and 256 worksheets, more than enough for most home applications. The program even supports simple charts such as pie and bar charts. And all that in less than 500 kB. We can call that a small miracle!
