MyHeritage may be the global leader in family tree documentation, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only provider of this type of software. A freeware tool that has also been making its way for years is Gramps. The program is now ready for version 5 and over the years a wealth of useful tools has been built in. The data you enter in Gramps can be used to request all kinds of overviews and this gives a clear insight into connections between family members, geographical distribution and much more. The English-language documentation is also welcome.
