Most people don’t need an advanced word processor. On the other hand, we all need to edit a text document from time to time and Notepad is a bit sparse. WordPad is a good alternative, but it lacks the functionality to work well with HTML or other more technical text files. However, there is also a nice free option in the form of EditPad Lite, a tip from Lex Tillemans. Here you open multiple files at once in tabs and you will find, among other things, very advanced search and replace functions. EditPad is useful for everyday and technical use.
