Free video editors are scarce, and professional-level copies even scarcer. We were therefore pleasantly surprised when Richard Mastenbroek tipped us off about DaVinci Resolve 12.5.
Resolve offers everything for non-linear video editing. That is, you can drag moving and still images from a media pool to multiple timelines to assemble a complete movie. The professionalism of the program can be seen from the functions. For example, Resolve is an expert in color correction (an essential part of any serious production) and the program can handle material that was shot with several cameras simultaneously. Also when it comes to output quality, Resolve doesn’t back down, so you can even make a cinema movie with it. Cons? All this requires a solid PC and the necessary study to master the program.
