A vast scientific study conducted by France Assos Santé will be launched today in order to measure the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis on the mental state of the French population. From this Monday, November 30, 10,000 volunteers will have to answer questions for a period of two years.
10,000 volunteers to answer questions until May 2022
The study called ‘Vivre-Covid19’ is one of a kind. It aims to identify and measure the psychological consequences due to the health crisis linked to Covid-19 on the French population. Launched by France Assos Santé – a network of 85 patient associations – the study cohort will focus on people with chronic diseases, on individuals with disabilities, caregivers as well as on people in good health.
According to Gérard Raymond, president of France Assos Santé: “ we realized that the situation was going to last and that beyond people with Covid or other pathologies, there was going to have an impact on our lifestyles “. This is why the study will be based on three themes: anxiety, care and everyday life.
To do this, 10,000 volunteer participants over 18 and living in mainland France will be invited to answer questions until May 2022. The questions are sent every month and do not require more than five minutes to complete. to respond. The study is scheduled until May 2022 but first results are expected in May.
Almost 79% of those surveyed already had anxiety during the pilot phase
Last spring, the question of the consequences on the mental state of the population was already raised. A pilot phase was thus carried out during the first confinement. According to France Assos Santé, this first phase of the test had shown that 78.9% of the people questioned had anxiety disorders, 61.5% declared having a degraded care and 32.9% of the cases were saw their medical appointment deprogrammed without a proposed new date.
According to Caroline Guyot, seconded to France Assos Santé to support the project and notably ensure the legal framework: “ the number of responses from the pilot phase is too low to say that we have solid results, these are trends that show something but let’s wait: statistically, we need to have more respondents to be able to say that our results are fair and solid “.
