The 5th generation of the Ford Transit is getting ready. Better still, it is already taking part in the test phases since a “mule” of the Custom variant was photographed in southern Europe. This future utility will be available with internal combustion and hybrid engines and in a new electric version.
The Transit Custom shows the weight of years. Marketed since 2012, it has already been twice restyled (in 2017 and 2020). To face more recent competition, Ford will retaliate with an upcoming modernized version, which will be offered in a 100% electric version.
Clearly visible curves
The still camouflaged prototype struggles to hide its final bodywork. Thus, we notice a slightly higher body line at the door handles. The optics are much more tapered than on the current version, and the grille adopts the design of the latest Ford productions.
Inside, the utility will receive a new touch screen to manage infotainment, as you can see on some pictures. It should also benefit from more connected services.
An electric version on the program
On the engine side, Ford will offer a wide range, welcoming gasoline and diesel with mild hybridization, as well as plug-in hybrids as is already the case with the current generation. Although at the end of its career, the current model will be available later this year in an electric e-Transit version. It will be the same for his successor. According to our information, the entry into production of the new Transit Custom will take place in April 2023 for marketing a few months later.
