Ferrari unveils the BR20, a new unique model. Although based on the GTC4Lusso, this “fastback” GT with front V12 engine and all-wheel drive is two-seater. The classic combination of light gray bodywork and dark brown upholstery hides cutting-edge materials and performance.
A Ferrari can hide another. While we wait any day for the presentation of a new Icona officially confirmed for this mid-November, the Italian manufacturer draws without warning the BR20, new unique model designed by its special projects department at the request of a customer.
A two-seater GT with all-wheel drive
The BR20 is a two-seater GT with a V12 engine under its front hood. Contrary to what one might think, it is not derived from the 812 Superfast but based on the GTC4Lusso, the large four-seater “hunting station wagon” from Maranello. The BR20 is even longer, 7.6 cm, and therefore extends over 5 meters. The elimination of the rear seats allowed the development of a “fastback” silhouette, for which Ferrari says it was inspired by models from the 1950s and 1960s such as the 410 Superamerica and 500 Superfast. The roof arches are separated from the rear pillars to create tunnels serving aerodynamics. The slight heightening of the rear window on the tailgate as well. The front light units have been lowered compared to those of the GTC4Lusso and appear thinner. At the rear, the two round double lights still echo the exhaust outlets, placed lower. The car sits on exclusive 20-inch diamond rims.
The lines are fluid, and the black roof visually lightens the whole. But the gaping front air intake, the extractors and side sills in visible carbon fiber, as well as the protuberance formed by the rear diffuser, which breaks a little the elegance of the stern, recall the hot temperament of the machine. . The all-wheel drive of the GTC4Lusso is still in the game. For lack of official clarification on this subject, we can assume that the twelve-cylinder 6.3 l still develops 690 hp.
Leather, wood and carbon
The interior of the Ferrari BR20 is dressed in dark brown Heritage Testa di Moro leather, whose very vintage look is contrasted by silver cross stitching. The luggage rack which replaces the rear seats receives an oak veneer associated with carbon fiber inserts; a finish combining again old and modern materials. As usual, Ferrari is careful not to reveal the amount of the check that the sponsor of the BR20 had to pay. A seven-figure sum is more than likely.
