According to a survey conducted by the magazine’s team 60 million consumers, all children would be contaminated by endocrine disruptors and this contamination would represent a serious risk to their health.
All children in the study infected
We know that endocrine disruptors are present in our daily lives, but according to a study conducted by our colleagues from the magazine 60 million consumers, we would find traces of bisphenol A, phthalates or pesticides in the hair of all children. To reach this conclusion, the magazine team asked an independent laboratory to analyze the locks of hair of 43 children and adolescents aged 10 to 15 years.
On the hair of all of these participants, who came from different corners of France, both the city and the countryside, the laboratory found between 20 and 54 endocrine disruptors. ” All the children in our study are infected “, Said Victoire N’Sondé, who conducted the investigation for 60 million consumers. ” What is to be feared is that the entire population of children in France is contaminated. “.
A significant health risk
The researchers detected polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), heavy metals and brominated flame retardants (PBDEs), but also polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), banned for 30 years, and the insecticide Lindane, banned since the 2000s. These substances are suspected of disrupting the hormonal system but also of promoting certain cancers., diabetes and other cardiovascular problems.
According to the magazine, the presence of these toxic substances represents a significant health risk. This is why the editor-in-chief, Sylvie Metzelard, asks the health authorities ” to stop playing sissies and impose rules “. ” And remember that the best pressure comes from consumers, able to refuse to buy non-virtuous products. She adds.
