Medicare plans to introduce an increase of € 15 for medical specialists who take care of emergency patients.
Much less expensive support
How to relieve congestion in the hospital emergency department? This is the question raised by the Health Insurance, during the negotiations which are taking place at the moment with the unions of liberal practitioners, concerning the future medical convention. The envisaged track would be the increase of 15 € for the emergency consultation with a specialist doctor.
This bonus could concern 2 million procedures and could be implemented only if the patient went to his attending physician and the latter recommended that he consult a specialist within 48 hours. The attending physician would also receive a bonus in this case. A double advantage for Medicare, insofar as treatment in a doctor’s office is much less expensive than in the emergency department.
Prioritize consultations into four levels
Medicare would also consider prioritizing consultations into four levels, according to our colleagues from Figaro, who were able to consult the avenues that Social Security will offer to unions. There would henceforth be the basic consultation, “coordinated acts” with the attending physician, “long in-depth consultations” and “very complex consultations”.
Could be considered, for example, as a long consultation, the first consultation for contraception and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and as a very complex consultation, the management of cancer patients.
The Confederation of French Medical Unions (CSMF) has already indicated that it wishes to invoice these various consultations at the following rates: 25 € for basic consultations, € 30 for consultations at the request of the attending physician, € 46 for long consultations and € 75 for complex consultations.
