McDonalds could just get millions of extra customers by welcoming a certain Elon Musk and his beloved Dogecoin with a Happy Meal…
Elon Musk has found another way to put Dogecoin in the spotlight. According to him, the virtual currency backed by the crypto daddy should be accepted as a means of payment at McDonalds. In return, Musk has come up with a clever marketing ploy: he eats a Happy Meal on TV when McDonalds accepts Dogecoin.
Elon Musk wants to buy McDonalds with Dogecoin
Musk states that in a funny Tweet for. The Tesla CEO is of course trying to persuade McDonalds to accept Dogecoin in order to generate legitimacy for the cryptocurrency. For now you can only use Dogecoin for some Tesla lifestyle products. There are of course also individual companies where the currency can be used. But mass adoption is not yet forthcoming.
That would change dramatically if you could suddenly pay with the meme coin in every McDonalds in the world. After all, McDonalds is by far the largest fast food chain in the world and Elon Musk would like to enjoy it. And let’s face it, eating a Happy Meal (and earning billions of euros behind the scenes with your Doge collection) is no punishment.
Value of Dogecoin skyrockets
Due to Musk’s Tweet, Dogecoin’s value rose by almost 10% at the time of writing. The currency has been in a massive dip since last May’s Doge craze. Overall, the increase is therefore quite small. But it illustrates well how much the crypto enthusiast wants practical applications of, among others, Dogecoin.
For now, McDonalds has given no indication that the deal with Elon Musk will come, al looks like Burger King willing to accept Dogecoin.
