In a previous study, researchers at Harvard University (USA) claimed that some flavored liquids for electronic cigarettes damaged the lungs. This time, it was researchers at Stanford University who discovered that certain flavors of e-liquids cause damage to the cells of the blood vessels. The results of their study have just been published in the Journal of cardiology.
The aromas of mint and cinnamon to avoid
“Unlike cigarettes, the effects of electronic cigarettes and their components on vascular health remain poorly studied. However, given their growing popularity, it is imperative to assess the health risks of patients. Electronic cigarettes, including the effects of their ingredients, especially nicotine and aromas “explain the authors of the study.
They discovered that all of the aromas were potentially harmful to the endothelial cells that line the inside of blood vessels. But they specifically point the finger at the aromas of mint and cinnamon, which are the ones that cause the most damage to endothelial cells.
