They would be 1.5 to 2% to be victims of electrosensitivity in France. Maybe more. It is difficult to know the exact figure since this problem divides experts as to its recognition as a disease in its own right.
However, a big step has just been taken in favor of these “wave patients”. For the first time, a man with electrosensitivity received financial compensation for his pathology. This will be paid by the Departmental House of Disabled People of Essonne, under the tutelage of the General Council of Essonne, according to the Collectif des Électrosensibles de France which revealed the information Thursday. “Other people had already obtained the status of disabled worker because of their electrosensitivity, but to receive a subsidy to buy protective equipment, to our knowledge, this is a first,” Sophie Pelletier told AFP. the co-responsible of the association.
With this sum, the amount of which has not been disclosed, the 32-year-old man who lives in the south of the department, intends to buy measuring instruments, protective fabric for his clothes, a canopy to protect your bed at night or even computer voice recognition software.
A complicated life
On sick leave after exposure to magnetic fields in his work, man is one of the electrosensitive for whom the acts of daily life become insurmountable.
The “hypersensitive” can indeed experience a series of disabling symptoms: impression of electric shocks in the body, tingling, nausea, headaches, anxiety, insomnia, muscle pain, discomfort, digestive disorders, heart rate, etc.
“Life becomes very complicated,” confirms the association. “In the most serious cases, they are forced to leave their homes and go and live in camper vans or hovels in the middle of nowhere.”
Electromagnetic waves interfere with the lives of more and more French people, who experience varying degrees of sensitivity linked to cell phones or relay antennas, for example.
Last January, a law was passed to regulate exposure to electromagnetic waves generated by wireless technologies (cell phones, tablets, Wi-Fi). It also provides for people suffering from electrosensitivity, the submission of a report intended to assess “the advisability of creating areas with limited electromagnetic radiation, especially in urban areas”, as well as the “conditions for taking into account” their difficulties in the workplace.
