Ebola: the contamination took place inside the country
His origin ? Contamination by a survivor still carrying the virus inside the country, according to health authorities. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “the origin of the outbreak continues to be investigated.”
The first analyzes carried out in adolescents made it possible to identify a virus genetically similar to the one that raged at the end of 2014. A hypothesis which rules out the thesis of contamination by Guinea or Sierra Leone, which are among the countries most affected by the Ebola virus.
Ebola: more than 4,800 deaths in Liberia
Six cases of Ebola have already been identified in Liberia, including two fatalities. The latest death was announced on July 15 by the head of the Ebola treatment unit in Monrovia. It was about a member of the nursing staff who allegedly concealed his contamination by taking antipyretics until the disease reached a critical stage.
In early May, the WHO announced the end of the Ebola virus in Liberia, after more than 4,800 deaths. A little too quick an announcement.
Ebola: more than 11,200 dead in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone
The Ebola virus first appeared in December 2013 in Guinea. A year and a half later, the virus killed more than 11,200 in 27,500 cases, mainly in Liberia, in Guinea and Sierra Leone. In these last two countries, hemorrhagic fever is now mainly active in their respective capitals, where it has caused 9 and 10 cases.
