Researchers at Marshall University in the United States came to this conclusion when they found in mice that 56 g of daily consumption of nuts slowed the growth of breast cancer tumors.
“Food is medicine”, recalls the lead author of the study, Elaine Hardman. “What we eat can have a big impact on our health: it determines how the body works, and how it reacts to disease.”
Other good reasons not to go without nuts
Nuts are very rich in polyphenols, which are natural antioxidants. They contain almost twice as many antioxidants as almonds, peanuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, cashews, macadamia, Brazil and pecans, according to the researchers.
Nuts are also full of omega 3 fiber, vitamin E and they help fight cholesterol. From now on, you have no more excuses to deprive yourself of it. You can decorate your salads, your mueslis and nibble it as a snack during the day.
