A American study from Pennsylvania State University became interested in mushrooms in cancer prevention. And the food could turn out to be very useful! Consumed in sufficient quantities daily, they could thus allow reduce the risk of developing cancer by 45%.
To reach this conclusion, the researchers used pre-existing data from studies carried out between January 1, 1966 and October 31, 2020. That is a total of 17 studies and nearly 20,000 subjects studied. In general, eating more mushrooms would lower the risk of having any type of cancer, some studies point out that this is all particularly the case for breast cancer.
Interesting foods for health
So, how many mushrooms to eat each day? Scientists have established that the “right” amount would be around 18 grams daily to be truly effective.
If the mushroom is however not a “miracle food” to avoid cancer, it has many benefits: it is a source of vitamin B (good for tissues, hair, cell renewal), vitamin D (useful to fix calcium on the bones), it participates in digestion, stimulates the immune system and is finally a slimming ally, because very low in calories!
