People who regularly consume fruits and vegetables are more beautiful according to a study by the University of Cambridge and York (England), because eating vegetables would give a luminous complexion which makes people more attractive.
The researchers took photos of 20 women and men. They then worked on these images to create 4 different versions. For the first series of images, the faces took the golden glow of someone who eats a lot of fruits and vegetables, for the second, they had the paler complexion of a person who consumes few green vegetables. For the third and fourth version, the researchers also changed the skin tones but the faces became abstract images.
The volunteers then had to assess the beauty of the faces. If they were not sensitive to the modification of the abstract images, they clearly expressed that the most golden faces were the most beautiful.
York University researcher Carmen Lefèvre said, “These results suggest that we use skin color as a quick way to identify the good health of others. Similarly, tanned people always look healthier than other people” and explained that “people generally aren’t attracted to people who look sick. However, she recalls that “it is preferable and healthier to eat fruits and vegetables than exposing yourself to the sun for too long. »
Fruits and vegetables set a bright tone
Previous studies have shown that people who eat fruits and vegetables have a more golden skin tone than others thanks to the carotenoid, orange and red pigments present in plants.
Dr. Lefevre reminds all those who have trouble chewing fruit that “it is enough to eat two fruits or vegetables a day for four weeks to look better and therefore be more attractive. “
