When and how often what people eat can affect their risk factors for heart attack and stroke? The answer : taking three balanced meals on a regular schedule would avoid the consumption of unbalanced snacks and reduce the risk of heart diseaseof diabetes and D’strokeaccording to the results of a study published in the medical journal Circulation.
“The rhythm of meals can affect health because of its impact on the body’s internal clock,” explains Marie-Pierre St-Onge, associate professor of nutritional medicine at Columbia University in New York in the United States.
Breakfast, a key meal for a balanced diet
In this study, breakfast is described as the “most important meal of the day”. Yet 30% of American adults skip this meal. This drop in breakfast consumption was associated with an increase inobesity and would be linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular illnesses, type 2 diabetes and chronic diseases. Indeed, not starting the day with a balanced breakfast promotes snacksfatty and sweet.
Similarly, the researchers concluded that the time of meals and their frequency are just as important as the contents of our plates. Dietary lifestyles are indeed linked to risk factors and biological markers such ashigh blood pressure, obesity and insulin resistance. This meta-analysis also observed that eating early would be better for our health.
