On vacation in the Côtes d’Armor, the Strasbourg doctor had saved 3 teenagers from drowning. A year later, the prefecture rewards his courage and dedication.
He had risked his life to save the lives of three teenagers. While on vacation in Erquy (Brittany), Dr Jean-Lionel Bagot had saved Céline Gautier, Maude Ledain and Goulven Le Graët from drowning, dragged off by strong currents on the beach of Saint Pabu. A year later, the doctor received a medal from the Côtes d’Armor prefecture for his act of bravery and dedication.
The ceremony was organized this Monday in the town hall of Erquy, says the radio France Bleu Armorique. The Strasbourg doctor came there with his family with a smile on his face. “On returning to Strasbourg, my patients, my friends all congratulated me,” he told local radio.
Friendship
This ceremony was also for the doctor to find the three young people who owe their lives to him. “I invited him to my birthday because without him I would never have celebrated my 18th birthday,” said Maude Ledain, one of the three survivors. “It’s also a story of friendship now with these young people who are growing up. It made me very happy to see them again, ”added Dr Jean Lionel-Bagot.
The Alsatian doctor and the teenagers will have the opportunity to meet again because they all spend their summer holidays in the same campsite.
