Tea drinkers would show better results on creativity tests with a high level of difficulty.
- Daily and regular consumption of tea improves cognitive functions when solving puzzles.
- Tea would reduce cognitive fatigue.
Drinking tea would help boost cognitive abilities. In a study published in the journal Food Quality and Preferenceresearchers at Peking University suggested that daily tea consumption would improve performance in creative tasks with a high level of difficulty.
Benefits increase over time
The consumption of tea improves cognitive abilities, mainly for those who drink it regularly. “Our results suggest that tea can help improve mental performance when faced with a particularly difficult taskreported psychologist Lei Wang, lead author of the study. Our research also suggests that habitual tea drinkers see greater cognitive benefits compared to occasional tea drinkers.”
Less cognitive fatigue
The tea could also allow consumers to feel less fatigued while performing a task. “Participants in the tea group were happier and more interested in the task than those in the water group. The results have important practical significance for those engaged in creative work or those prone to fatigue.”, report the researchers.
For the study, they subjected 100 participants to a series of exercises. It was about word association and riddles to solve. Beforehand, each volunteer drank a cup of hot water or black tea.
