The benjamin in the iPhone line-up will receive a relatively large upgrade and then it will be radically renewed. This is what came out about the new iPhone SE 5G!
A dirt cheap iPhone, many will say they don’t exist. There have been plenty of ‘misfits’ in Apple’s lineup that were slightly cheaper. Take the iPhone 5C or the iPhone SE (2016). The first was a kind of plastic iPhone that was also quite substandard on almost all fronts, but the iPhone SE was quite a smart idea. Grab parts of the hardware from a top-of-the-line iPhone, put it in the existing old casing, and you’ve got a modern iPhone for less.
iPhone SE (2020)
The iPhone SE has been back since 2020. The idea was similar to the original: the then latest A13 processor (although slightly tuned back) in the housing of the iPhone 8. Because you could save wonderfully on this, the phone was significantly cheaper than the rest of the line-up. Apple can put a good use of a cheaper device from a consumer perspective, so it’s quite a good idea.
5G
However, the SE is now really starting to lag far behind in two ways. Firstly, by not being able to offer 5G. That is becoming an increasing requirement and can give the iPhone SE a nice selling point again. That’s coming, if we are to believe analyst Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants. Two new iPhone SE models are coming to solve this problem and another problem.
The first of the two new SEs is called the SE+ 5G by Young (name may vary in the end). This is basically the same iPhone SE we already know, but with 5G. So expect the housing of the current iPhone SE (of the iPhone 8) with a 4.7 inch LCD “Liquid Retina” screen and a good old home button with finger scanner. What we are used to, but with 5G. There appear to be no further changes planned.
Major upgrade 2023
But the iPhone SE will probably get a third generation in addition to this upgrade to 5G. This one is going to change the recipe a little more radically. First, the screen would be 5.7 inches in size and thus have the borderless design of the current bevy of iPhones. It is not known whether it is OLED or LCD. It is also not known what further changes are. However, the device is now aimed at a launch in 2023.
So if you want to get the cheapest iPhone, two nice models are coming and the iPhone SE finally gets 5G.
