My 16-year-old daughter has had a daily headache for a few years now. She sees a chiropractor and an acupuncturist. Sometimes that helps for a while, but if she is under stress, the complaints quickly increase again. What can she do?

We all have headaches from time to time, we mess around with paracetamol or ibuprofen and then it’s over for a while. If you have it more and more and you keep messing around, there is a chance that one day you will have a medication-related headache or that you are constantly doing weird things (exercises) with your neck that only makes it worse. Headaches have a multitude of causes and treatments: the best approach is systematically (and patiently) figuring out what’s going on and what works best. Many hospitals have a special headache clinic for this. If you have to determine for yourself that a headache is a serious problem for you, then you should not go to all different practitioners, but to one who gradually finds out what the cause is.
