Pharmacists, part of a professional territorial health community (CPTS), will soon take care of urinary tract infections and sore throats.
- Some pharmacists will be able to treat pain when swallowing in patients 6-45 years old, frequent urination and cystitis in women 16-65 years old.
- In 90% of cases, urinary infections are due to the bacterium “Escherichia coli”.
- Soon, the protocols for the treatment of chickenpox, simple sprain, acute low back pain and the renewal of the treatment of allergic rhinitis will be simplified.
A stop, published in the Official Journal, reveals that pharmacists, who are part of a professional territorial health community (CPTS), and state-certified nurses will be able to treat odynophagia in patients aged 6 to 45 years. Odynophagia is pain when swallowing. These healthcare professionals will need to do an antibiotic test to determine the cause of angina and offer treatment to patients.
The management of frequent urination and cystitis in women
A second arrest also indicates that pharmacists will be able to take care of “polakiuria and non-febrile micturition burns in women aged 16 to 65”. As a reminder, pollakiuria corresponds to going to the toilet more than 7 times a day and/or more than once a night to urinate. “Each urination is scanty (often less than 100 ml, the equivalent of a small glass of water)”, precise health insurance. This phenomenon is sometimes accompanied by urinary leakage or burning.
As to “non-febrile urinary burning”these are cystitis which are caused in 90% of cases by the bacterium “Escherichia coli”. “This urinary infection occurs when the bacterium Escherichia coli, naturally present in the digestive tract (colon, rectum), enters the urethra, then goes up into the bladder, and begins to multiply”, specified health insurance. In detail, pharmacists will be able to dispense an antibiotic to patients without a prescription, after asking them questions about their symptoms.
Physiotherapists: 4 other protocols will be updated
In the coming weeks, four other protocols, more specifically concerning physiotherapists, will be simplified. These are those for chicken pox, renewal of treatment for allergic rhinitis, simple sprain and acute low back pain.
