In the street
Do you have an errand to do or just want to go for a walk? Do not hesitate to obtain an “Emergency-toilets” card from AFA (Association François Aupetit, tel.: 01 43 07 00 49). It will facilitate your access to the cafeterias-restaurateurs and will allow you to avoid unexpected queues.
At work
Remember to always have a change of clothes in the office just in case.
Anticipate as much as possible and organize yourself as best as possible to avoid as much as possible the stressful situations that are often the cause of flare-ups.
At the restaurant
There are no prohibited foods when you have Crohn’s disease. It is also advisable to eat everything in order to avoid any vitamin deficiency. However, you just have to be careful in a crisis and avoid raw fruits and vegetables which can have a laxative effect. Either way, you certainly won’t want to go out to a restaurant in the event of an acute crisis …
Travelling
Always carry your usual medications and contact information for your doctor to call if you have a problem.
Also include anti-diarrhea (Imodium®…) and antispasmodics against pain (Spasfon®…) in your toiletry bag.
If you are flying, ask for a seat next to the toilet. Check with your travel agency, it is also sometimes possible to order a specific menu on board.
