The list of professionals whose vaccination against the coronavirus is compulsory is growing. It is the turn of the gendarmes, who must present a complete vaccination schedule by September 15.
An obligation transmitted in an internal note
Since July 12, health professionals, caregivers or even firefighters are among the many audiences who have the obligation to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Today, August 19, according to the newspaper Le Monde, the General Directorate of the gendarmerie sent an internal note, indicating that the gendarmes would now be forced to receive the serum. Are concerned “ military personnel, active and reserve, in public security, road safety, law enforcement, judicial police and reception missions or performing services in contact with the public or people outside the Gendarmerie “. By mid-September, personnel who depend on military forces who are assigned to the field or in contact with people will therefore have to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. They can receive their injection (s) by making an appointment in a vaccinodrome or going to an SSA (Army Health Service).
An obligation for the gendarmes, but not for the police
The police are not, for the time being, concerned by this vaccination obligation, because they do not have military status. Indeed, the police come under the Ministry of the Interior. However, it appears that this decision is subject to change. For the moment, the French union UNSA-police declared via a press release dated August 16 that Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of the Interior, had not announced any vaccination obligation in view of “ the very high rate of staff vaccinated or being vaccinated. “Everyone therefore agrees to favor another strategy, that of” encouragement for vaccination. ”
To date, nearly 47 million French people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, which represents more than 69% of the total population. According to the Ministry of Health, more than 59% of French people now have a complete vaccination schedule as well as 72% of adults.
