German researchers studied the immune response of a patient who received 217 anti-Covid vaccines.
- More than 217 Covid-19 vaccines have reportedly been administered to a man living in Germany.
- His immune system was not weakened by this hypervaccination, according to German researchers.
- According to the results, it had a large number of T cells, which contribute to the destruction of cells infected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
A German man, aged 62, was reportedly vaccinated 217 times against Covid-19 for personal reasons. Official confirmation made it possible to attest 134 of these vaccinations. Researchers from the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the University of Erlangen recently became interested in this case and the effects of hypervaccination on the immune system.
A strong immune response even after more than 200 vaccines against Covid-19
As part of a study published in the journal The Lancet Infectious Diseasesthe German patient underwent different tests to observe the effects of this hypervaccination on the immune response. “The individual has undergone several blood tests over the past few years. He gave us his consent to evaluate the results of these tests. In some cases, the samples had been frozen and we were able to examine them ourselves. We have We were also able to take blood samples when the man received a new vaccination during the study, at his own insistence. We used these samples to determine exactly how the immune system responds to vaccination.”explained Doctor Kilian Schooner, co-author of the work and specialist in microbiology, virology and infectious epidemiology.
Some scientists believed that immune cells would become less effective after becoming accustomed to antigens. This was not the case for the patient who received more than 200 vaccines against Covid-19. According to the results, he had a large number of T cells, which contribute to the destruction of cells infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. He even had more than the control group which had received three anti-Covid vaccines. The cells showed no signs of fatigue, and were as efficient as those in the placebo group. “Overall, we did not find any indication of a weaker immune response, quite the contrary. In addition, even the 217th vaccination that the man received during the study had an effect: the number of antibodies against the coronavirus increased significantly.noted Katharina Kocher, co-author of the study and PhD student in the field of human T cell immunity.
Hypervaccination: “nothing indicates that we need to increase the number of vaccines”
Other tests were conducted to check the patient’s immune response to other pathogens. Scientists observed that hypervaccination did not damage the immune system. “Our test case was vaccinated with a total of eight different vaccines, including different available mRNA vaccines. No notable side effects were triggered by this hypervaccination”indicated Doctor Kilian Schober.
However, these results relate to a single case. They do not allow conclusions to be drawn or recommendations to be made to the general public. “Current research indicates that a three-dose vaccination, combined with regular complementary vaccines for vulnerable groups, remains the preferred approach. There is no indication that the number of vaccines needs to be increased.”concluded the German team.
