In a decree published this Saturday, December 12, 2020 in the Official Journal, the Ministry of Solidarity and Health announced the entry into force of a reimbursement level for screening tests for Covid-19, for analysis laboratories medical. From now on, reimbursement for tests will depend on how quickly the results are returned.
Reimbursement levels for screening tests for medical analysis laboratories
According to the ministerial decree: “lhe reduction in Covid-19 contamination involves the massive deployment of screening tests by RT-PCR on the territory, which allows the isolation of people whose infection (…) is confirmed and the immediate search for their contact persons “. However, as the text of the decree specifies, “ to conduct this strategy, it is essential to have the results of these examinations as soon as possible. “. It is precisely with this in mind that the authorities have set up reimbursements in proportion to the deadlines for rendering results for medical analysis laboratories.
To note : nothing changes for individuals. Indeed, the detection tests for SARS-CoV-2 continue to be fully reimbursed by Social Security.
Reimbursements in proportion to the deadlines for rendering test results
The entry into force of the declining tariff for laboratory tests follows agreements between Medicare and the unions of biologists. Thus, the tests will be reimbursed at the highest when the delivery time is below 24 hours. The tests will be reimbursed less if the results are returned between 24 and 48 hours and will no longer be reimbursed after two days of waiting.
As a reminder, during his last televised address, Emmanuel Macron announced that for the beginning of January, he expected all Covid-19 screening tests to have a delay of less than 24 hours between the test request and the results. In the meantime and according to the Statistics Directorate of the Ministry of Health (DREES), 75% of validated RT-PCR tests carried out between November 30 and December 6, were taken less than 24 hours previously (compared to 71% during the previous week) and 96% of the tests were validated in less than 48 hours.
