The toll of the health crisis is growing in France. Despite a curfew that now concerns 46 million French people, doctors and scientific professionals recommend a little more crackdown to curb the spread of the virus. The government follows health recommendations. Tracks are being considered, but nothing is official yet as of October 27.
What is the current health situation in France?
Covid-19 is spread quickly and infects new people every day. More than a million cases are confirmed in France, an increase of 26,771 in 24 hours. The death toll is also on the rise, with 258 deaths recorded in hospital in 24 hours. In France, 35,018 deaths are to be deplored. Over the last 7 days, more than 13,000 hospitalizations have taken place, including nearly 2,000 in intensive care. The national incidence rate is more than 350/100 000 inhabitants and all the epidemiological indicators are on the rise, with a rapid increase in the circulation of the virus. In addition, 92 departments are in a situation of high vulnerability.
What restrictions are they asking for?
Faced with this second wave, some doctors recommend applying more stringent measures, such as local containment, where the situation is critical. A massive curfew is also possible, that is to say at the national level. It could also be imposed earlier, from 7 p.m. or before, for the entire territory or only in certain metropolitan areas. The third avenue considered would be to establish containment on weekends in addition to the curfew, the last solution before generalized containment. It would nevertheless be more flexible than that of March. Schools and public services could remain open. A first Council took place this morning. The announcement of the new measures is expected tomorrow evening, Wednesday October 28, by the President of the Republic.
