The inhabitants of the coast of the Alpes-Maritimes will again be subject to confinement for the next weekend. The city of Nice and its department were the first to experience this local measure.
Since February 27, the Alpes-Maritimes department has been in confinement on weekends. This local measure is one of the consequences of the new strategy of the executive. Indeed, the government applies localized containments in the departments where the incidence rate is soaring. Concerning the Alpes-Maritimes, the measure was in place for 15 days and it was extended for an additional week. “The situation was particularly worrying and there was an exponential increase in incidence in this department. I would like to salute the mobilization and the colossal efforts made by the inhabitants of the Alpes-Maritimes. The confinement rule has been respected for the past two weeks, the spokesperson prides himself, I would also like to salute the great responsibility of local elected representatives “.
Extended confinement until March 13
“It was decided, and it is a difficult decision, to extend the confinement for this weekend in the Alpes-Maritimes”, said Gabriel Attal after the Council of Ministers. “A point will be made next week to measure whether the dynamics of reduction of the incidence and of the epidemic in the department continues”, to allow “in this case (to) be able to consider lifting the measure”, he said during the press briefing. The health situation remains tense in this department with nearly 384 people in hospital and around 29 deaths in hospitals in the Alpes-Maritimes in recent days, according to data released by the National Health Agency. The incidence rate is 481 per 100,000 inhabitants.
I take note of the decision to extend the weekend confinement taken by @gouvernementFR although that was not my recommendation. I am meeting this evening the scientific council @CityofNice take its opinion on measures to promote oxygenation activities. https://t.co/5v3o4oVHNL
