This is a first in France. In some towns in the Alpes-Maritimes, notably in Nice, partial confinement has been decreed. Which departments or areas could be affected by local containment?
Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
It is the Alpes-Maritimes department that is most affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. In fact, the occupancy rate of intensive care beds was 95.7% on February 14. In addition, the incidence rate exceeded 700 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. As a reminder, the national average is 190/100 000. With high epidemiological indicators, a weekend confinement is decreed, for the two weekends to come, minimum. Also, businesses of more than 5,000 m² must close from this Friday, except those relating to food or health products. However, they can continue to practice the ” click and collect “. The anti-Covid vaccination campaign must continue, thanks to the imminent arrival of more than 3,000 doses of vaccine. In addition, screening will be massive, especially in schools, thanks to saliva tests.
France’s Island
In the Ile de France region, the health situation remains tense. In five departments, the incidence rate is above 250. In addition, the English variant represents 45% of hospitalized patients. For the time being, the bed occupancy rate has not reached 70%, but the number of intensive care admissions is tending to increase slightly. In fact, 46 new patients entered this service in 24 hours.
The Hauts-de-France
The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, is going to the site today, in Dunkirk, where the epidemic indicators are above the alert thresholds. In fact, the incidence rate in Dunkirk is 901 per 100,000 inhabitants. This rate is also higher than that of the city of Nice. Therefore, new restrictions could be announced in the coming hours, to curb the spread of the virus in this territory. In addition, the English variant is also actively circulating in Dunkirk, for 72% of positive people. It could therefore be that partial containment on weekends will be declared in Dunkirk and certain surrounding towns.
The Grand Est
In the Moselle department, in the Grand-Est region, the Brazilian and South African variants are circulating more and more. In Moselle, 535 patients are hospitalized because of Covid-19, i.e. 16 more people in 24 hours. On the other hand, three new patients were admitted to the intensive care unit.
