The figures are not the same depending on the country. The Covid-19 epidemic is declining in France but has just experienced a rebound in the United States, after the Thanksgiving holidays. The WHO therefore calls not to let our guard down.

- Yesterday Friday in France, there were 11,221 new cases of Covid-19 in France, against 12,696 on Thursday and 14,064 on Wednesday.
This Saturday, December 5 in the morning, the World Health Organization (WHO) reiterates it again: we must not let our guard down in the face of the Covid-19 epidemic. This new recommendation is linked to the rebound of the epidemic in the United States, after the Thanksgiving holidays. After a week of celebrations, travel and family reunions, the country yesterday recorded an exponential increase in contamination in 24 hours, with 225,201 new cases according to Johns Hopkins University. A record, for the second consecutive day.
In France, on the other hand, the situation seems better. This Friday, there were 11,221 new cases in France, against 12,696 on Thursday and 14,064 on Wednesday. A drop, therefore, also observed for the number of new deaths: 284 Friday, 326 Thursday and 313 Wednesday. Currently, 26,283 people remain hospitalized in France, including 3,283 patients in intensive care. The total number of deaths since the start of the epidemic is 54,767 dead.
100 million vaccines will be available in France
Hope is allowed with the upcoming arrival of vaccines, but should not justify a break. This week, the United Kingdom authorized the sale of vaccines against Covid-19 from the Pfizer and BioNTech laboratories. It is the first Western country to have authorized their marketing, the first of which should be administered next week.
On the French side, the authorities remain cautious. Vaccination will be free but will only start in January. Prime Minister Jean Castex said the country had pre-ordered 200 million doses – for 67 million people – because the vaccine requires two injections. In other words, 100 million vaccines will soon be available.
Do not let up despite low morale
But after long months of restrictive health instructions and several weeks of confinement, the warning from the WHO is crucial. The French, and more generally the world population, are beginning to run out of steam. The temptation to relax, especially at the approach of the end of year celebrations, frightens the authorities. Especially since the morale of employees is at half mast, partly because of teleworking. A toll-free number was created by the Ministry of Labor in mid-November to support employees of VSEs-SMEs who find this situation difficult. According to the psychologists in charge of collecting their calls, they would have developed feelings of anxiety, isolation, loss of meaning, work overload, etc. And the prospects for the economic future of France do not comfort them. More than 650 social plans have been announced since March 1. In the coming months, the unemployment rate could therefore increase. On the student side, the situation is also gloomy. Their universities will not reopen before the start of the school year in January… And this, in a very gradual way.
Despite the epidemic, some countries are relaxing their health rules. This is the case of Peru. From December 15, air flights from Europe will be allowed. The goal is to revive tourist activity, to limit the economic crisis as much as possible.
