Sandrine, 44, an operator at the Howmet Ciral foundry in Evron, in Mayenne, benefited from a great outpouring of solidarity. His colleagues offered him 213 days of RTT (nearly 10 months of work) to allow him to take care of Noah, his sick nine-year-old son, the daily reported. West France.
Since June 25, 2015, Noah has been followed at the Sud de Rennes hospital for a brain tumour which obliges him to follow a heavy treatment, to carry out three blood tests per week and a chemotherapy session every three weeks. For the good progress of the treatment of her son, operated on last November 17 in Paris, Sandrine had already taken a sick leave of 90 days and a work stoppage of 15 days. However, the 10 to 15% reduction in salary inherent in these holidays was becoming problematic. Especially since the death of her husband in 2007, Sandrine is alone to provide for the needs of her three children, reports Ouest France.
“Two hundred and thirteen days! I couldn’t believe it …”
But recently, the Mathys law allows employees to donate their days off (RTT, days of recovery or paid vacation) anonymously and without compensation to a colleague whose child has a serious illness. It is thanks to this measure that all the employees of the Evron foundry have joined forces and have thus been able to offer Sandrine nearly ten months of rest. At the end of September, the mother learned that she would benefit from a 213-day leave, running from October 5, 2015 to August 5, 2016. “Two hundred and thirteen days! When the secretary told me, over the phone, I made her repeat it several times. I do not believe it…“she confided to Ouest France. Sandrine will thus be able to stay with her son without suffering any loss of salary, pending”go back to work” and of “resume active life normally“.
