For several weeks, coffee shops, where it is possible to buy “therapeutic cannabis” in all its forms (crystals, syrup, oil, vaping liquid, resin, sweets, infusion …), were opened in the metropolis. The latter took advantage ofa void in the legislation French, gone unnoticed in 10 years, to finally see the light of day. Agnès Buzyn, the Minister of Health, spoke at the microphone RTL on this fact and wishes to review this “legal gray zone” in the law so that these establishments close.
What the law says ?
“The law says that hemp can be used for industrial purposes when it contains less than 0.2% of THC (psychoactive substance). But it does not speak of products sold in the form of cigarettes, but of the plant itself. However, these stores are hijacking the law by saying that their cigarettes contain less than 0.2% THC, ”said Agnès Buzyn. However, any use and sale of cannabis, regardless of the THC level, is normally reprehensible. She then intends to review the legislation by working with the General Directorate for Competition, Consumption and Fraud Control (DGCCRF), and hopes that these coffee shops will have closed within a few months. A preliminary investigation was also opened on the Paris coffee shop in order to verify whether the legal conditions for the sale of certain forms of cannabis are respected.
“Find the famous ridge line”
Concerning therapeutic cannabis, in the form of medicine, the Minister of Health is not hostile to it: “Let us be consistent. We are against the use of these psychoactive substances, but we can have a therapeutic exception when it comes to relieving people for which we do not have drugs. So we are working to find the famous ridge line allowing us to be in the rational “.
