One new reason for absence (paid by the employer) will be created: it concerns parents who learn that their child has a chronic illness or cancer. This leave already existed for disability announcements, it was extended on December 8 after a vote in Parliament.
A complete list of chronic diseases will be established
It’s not a big holiday, just two dayswhich will be granted in the private but also in the public. “It is an emergency measure, a shock absorber in the face of the shock of the announcement”, reacted PS senator from Haute-Garonne, Emilienne Poumirol. There is not yet a list of diseases concerned, but it should be established and it was assured that it would be as complete as possible so as not to “neglect certain families”.
The objective is of course to support families who face these painful announcements, but not only. In this piece of legislation, there are other measures aimed at helping the school, strengthen the training of teachers in the face of these situationsor to promote exchanges between the school and parents.
There is currently legislation on the subject of sick children, without specifying the type of pathology: the “sick child leave” is set at 3 days per yearbut the collective agreement can extend it, points out Public Service website. If the child is less than a year old, it is 5 days per year, the same if you have at least 3 children. It is granted on medical certificate or on report of an accident. That said, this leave is authorized, without being paid.
