It is of course very frightening when you have chest pain. It’s an alarm signal, because it could be a heart attack. But most people who go to the doctor with this do not appear to have a heart attack. Chest pain can also be a symptom of heartburn, pneumonia, or a panic attack. Sometimes no cause is found for the pain.
