Bad boys, bad boys, what are you going to do when they come for you?
No cup holders, no back seat*, but maybe a lost fries somewhere between the center console and the passenger seat. We won’t mention another film reference, something with a shiny… er, enough said. You’re watching the third protagonist from the movie bad boys: the Porsche 911 Turbo of Mike Lowrey (better known as Mike Laaaawrey). Will Smith and Martin Lawrence drove this Porsche Turbo in the mid-1990s, but it was director Michael Bay who took the car home at the end of filming.
Although the Porsche 911 Turbo is out bad boys is hardly ever mentioned in the lists of famous movie cars, this black 964 really deserves a place in the spotlight. The car didn’t make any silly jumps or excessive drifting in the movie—and it didn’t need to. The Porsche drove away from an explosion without looking back. The Porsche was allowed to make public appearances a few more times, for example at the premiere of the film Bad Boys for Life.
French license plate on the Porsche 911 Turbo (964) from bad boys
Just like in the movie, this Porsche 911 Turbo (964) has bad boys French license plates in the front and American plates with ‘BAD BYS1’ in the rear. Only a rear license plate is required in some states, so some owners leave the original European plates on the front after import. These French plates appear to be on it because the car originally belonged to French actor Tchéky Karyo, who plays the crook in bad boys. As a wink, because the license plate does not belong to the 911.
At least two Porsches are said to have been used during the filming of bad boys. The headrests reveal that, because the Porsche logo appears and disappears through the film. Some sources are talking about a third Porsche. It is unknown where the other car or cars are. In any case, this Porsche 911 Turbo comes with a certificate stating that this is the real movie car bad boys used to be.
The specifications
The Porsche 911 Turbo (964) out bad boys has a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer in the back with 360 hp. Power goes to the rear wheels via a manual transmission. The car was restored in 2006 and has just under 55,000 kilometers on the odometer. A tool kit is also included. It is not known what the 911 should deliver. In January you can bid at mecum.
* Although the character of Martin Lawrence at the beginning of the film complains about the lack of backseats, in the final chase you see that Tea Leoni does sit in the back. The photos of the auction do not clearly show whether or not the car has a back seat. A pity that Reggie only appeared in the second film, we would have liked to have referred to this.
