The confirmation of a new Nissan GT-R, the production of the first Bugatti Chiron Super Sport and the birth of the Boldmen brand have punctuated sports news this week. But that’s not all. L’argus offers you an overview of the novelties.
As for sports cars, the past week was mainly marked by the presentation of the Caterham Seven 170 which, if it displays only a modest power of 84 hp, promises its share of sensation with only 440 kg on the scale. But the other sports car manufacturers have not turned their thumbs so far.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport
Bugatti has assembled the first 8 Chiron Super Sport out of the 30 planned. All use the livery of the “300+” prototype which had set a speed record in 2019 by reaching 490.484 km / h, or more than 300 mph (483 km / h). The production model, lengthened by 25 cm compared to a Chiron and strong 1600 hp, is limited to 440 km / h. The owners of these first copies will take possession of them very soon. Each had to pay a check for 3.5 million euros excluding taxes and options. All planned production has been reserved.
Nissan GT-R R36
Like Japan and the United States, Australia will be entitled to the current Nissan GT-R type R35 in limited series T-Spec. This will be accompanied by another special edition called Nismo SV. And on the occasion of this Australian launch, the local branch of Nissan has (finally) officially hinted that a new generation of GT-R is in the works. ” These two special editions of GT-R will mark the last time the current generation vehicle will be offered in Australia. (…) This is not the end of GT-R history in Australia, but it will mark the end of this chapter for this generation of vehicle. Nissan Australia CEO Adam Paterson said. The R35 has been on the market since 2007 and, despite many rumors, nothing reliable has leaked out about its replacement. Fans will nevertheless be relieved to learn that an R36 is coming. It remains to be seen when.
Ford GT1
With the GT of 2005, Ford delivered a modern interpretation of the GT40 which had distinguished itself at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1960s. The manufacturer entrusted the Swiss tuner Matech with the task of transforming and entering a GT at Le Mans. Thus was born the Ford GT1, entered on the classic Le Mans in 2010 with a certain Romain Grosjean among its pilots. The team had to retire in the race, but then homologated the car for the revised regulations of 2011. After years of neglect, the Ford GT1 is about to make its comeback with a limited series “continuation” that will be marketed. Fred Calero, an American entrepreneur and notorious Ford collector, managed to acquire an original carbon body of the model as well as the 30 unused chassis retained so far by Ford Performance. With a small team of engineers, he is currently working on the production of these 30 cars which will be fitted with a Ford V8 from the Modular family.
Aura concept
The British automobile industry acquired its letters of nobility with roadsters in the 1960s and today seeks, like the whole of this sector on a global scale, to reinvent itself through electrification. Four equipment manufacturers from across the Channel (Astheimer, Potenza Technology, BAMD and Conjure) demonstrate their capabilities with the Aura concept, a 100% electric speedster. Even devoid of doors, the car displays a minimalist look. The composite material of its body is made from natural fibers. The car is equipped with two batteries of 44 kWh each officially providing 644 km of range. The Aura is a propulsion, but nothing is said about its power or its performance against the clock.

Boldmen CR 4
While the German manufacturer Wiesmann announced in 2019 a renaissance that is still desired, one of its founders, Friedhelm Wiesmann, is today participating in the creation of a new brand called Boldmen. This is launched with a roadster called CR 4, based on the current BMW Z4. Its lines are more curved than those of the latter. Under its hood is a 3.0L turbo six-cylinder pushed to 408 hp for 610 Nm of torque, associated with the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The finish is intended to be very exclusive, particularly on the special launch series limited to 30 copies, enough to justify a price that approaches € 200,000 according to Boldmen.
